About Our Shul

In the heart of Atlanta, GA, the members of Congregation Ohr HaTorah welcome you to our growing community. Congregation Ohr HaTorah is a modern orthodox synagogue that seeks to be the center of Jewish life for its members through meaningful Tefillah, Torah learning, and Chesed that connects us to one another, Israel, and the Jewish people.

Ohr HaTorah is built upon the following core values:

Torah:

  • Torat Yisrael—We lead our lives guided by strong commitment to Torah and Halacha.
  • Or Amim—We engage with the modern world through the prism of Torah and tradition.
  • Bayit—We see our shul as our spiritual home, where we welcome a range of perspectives and experiences.

Israel:

  • Medinat Yisrael —We strongly support the State of Israel and believe in its religious significance
  • Kesher Yisrael—We cultivate a deep connection to Israel by learning about its history, supporting its people, and fostering a love for the land and its significance in our tradition.

Community:

  • Mishpacha—We are a family, sharing in each other's smachot, supporting each other in times of need, and contributing our individual time and resources.
  • Ahavat israel—We share a love for the Jewish people, are open-minded, and willing to learn from one another.

In 2008 we welcomed Rabbi Adam Starr from the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, NY as our Spiritual Leader. Under the dynamic leadership of Rabbi Starr, our synagogue has grown significantly and has built a spectacular new spiritual home.

The doors of Congregation Ohr HaTorah are always open to warmly welcome anyone and everyone who would like to explore the richness, Torah scholarship and meaningful spirituality associated with modern Orthodoxy. We offer a full range of services, classes, and programs with something for everyone.
